It is the mission of PCRSD to protect the soil, water, and the general environment of Platte County through continued efforts to eliminate improper disposal of wastewater, thus protecting and reclaiming property values.

Prior to the formation of the district, many people were unable to obtain financing on their homes because of failing on-site sewage treatment systems such as septic tanks. Two groups of homeowners were instrumental in going beyond solving their own individual neighborhood problems and assisted the county government in researching, formulating a plan, and processing the necessary steps to form what is now PCRSD.

The purpose was to create an entity that could fund, assist with planning, and implement plans in order to:

• Create a better, cleaner environment for all Platte County residents
• Maintain a healthy place to own property and raise a family
• Retain or recapture home value for property owners who were unable to sell homes or obtain financing for homes because of failing on-site sewage systems.
