Answers to Common Questions from the Rate Notice Letter 12/08/2010
0 Comments

PCRSD customers recently received a letter revealing their monthly sewer bill for 2011. Here are the answers to some of the common questions:
  • Did the rate increase for 2011?
No. The rates used to determine your sewer bill remained the same from 2010. The reason for any changes in the amount of the bill is due to a difference in water use. PCRSD determines a customer's sewer bill by using the average water use during the months of January, February, and March. Using this "winter average" helps us avoid charging customers for water use during the spring and summer months that may not be going down the drain, like watering a lawn or filling a pool.
  • I pay my bill via ACH. Do I need to send anything for January?
No. All customers enrolled in the ACH payment program will continue to have their accounts debited for the new amount every month.
  • Will the switch to monthly billing increase my sewer bill?
No. On the surface, it would appear monthly billing would increase the District's postage costs. However, we anticipate savings due to a bulk-rate mail discount and reduced delinquency mailings.
  • Can I pay my sewer bill for the entire year?
Yes. If you want to prepay for the year, simply multiply the amount on the letter by 12.
  • I am on a payment plan. Why I am receiving a monthly bill? Is my payment plan still valid?
    Yes.
Customers with a payment plan will continue on the plan. The monthly bill will allow you to see your progress and provide information as needed.
  • I am a landlord of multiple properties. Do I have to receive bills for each property I own?
    Yes.
Currently, our software prints one bill per service address. We are exploring possibilities to combine those different accounts into one unified bill. In the meantime, multiple bills will be sent out.
Note for District 11 customers: The Debt 2 payment was not included in the letter. It will be added to your February bill if the full amount due is not received by January 15, 2011.
